Authentic Literacy and Deeper Learning Using Digital Tools

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

We know the answer to the questions: "Print or Digital?" "Fiction or Nonfiction?" is a resounding, "A balance of both!" Yet, we know this answer can still leave us with many more questions. In this session, participants will explore WHY digital content is a necessary component for literacy and learning, WHAT tools are available to support readers with comprehension and engagement, HOW teachers can create conditions for authentic instruction and assessment, and HOW students can get the most out of their digital use. Further, participants will explore how to introduce digital texts for independent reading and how digital texts can be effectively used for close reading instruction? If possible, participants should bring a device (preferably a laptop or tablet) for hands-on and minds-on activities during the session.
